Жесты перехода (Gestures of Transition)

Это видео является элементом спектакля «Сказание о Двараке» (постановка Музы Рихвановой в рамках проекта «Новое театральное товарищество»). Сюжет «Сказания…» построен на ряде мотивов священного вайшнавского текста XVI в. «Брихад-бхагаватамрита», и спектакль в целом посвящён, разумеется, любви. Видео представляет собой финальный эпизод этого достаточно эклектичного и синкретичного зрелища (в котором, помимо живых актёров, задействованы также марионеточные и теневые куклы, а «под занавес» звучит песня на японском языке).

Моя задача состояла в том, чтобы как-то показать «переход к Кали-Юге», что в итоге было изображено как деградация «образцового» традиционного жеста – от канонических положений рук танцоров классического индийского танца, повторявших движения сакральных персонажей – к тем жестам, которые пытались воспроизвести мы сегодня.

This video is an element of theatrical performance The Story of Dvaraka directed by Muza Rikhvanova in the framework of New Theatrical Fellowship (Tomsk). The plot of The Story… is based on several motifs of Brihad-bhagavatamrita, a sacred Vaishnava text of the 16^th century, and the performance in whole is about love, of course. Actually, the video is the final episode of this rather eclectic and syncretic spectacle (where marionettes and shadow puppets are involved besides actors’ play and the song towards the end is in Japanese).

My task was to show “the transition to Kali-Yuga” somehow, so finally it was depicted as degradation of the “exemplary” traditional gesture – from the canonic hands positions of dancers of classical Indian dance that were repeating the moves of the sacred personages – to those gestures that we were trying to reproduce in present.
